The Alberta Export Awards (AEA) are the province's most prestigious awards paying tribute to the innovative approaches and contributions of Alberta export companies from all regions of the province, as well as the individuals who contribute to their success. As a founding partner of the event, the government of Alberta played a key role in the development of the inaugural event in March 2009 in Edmonton, Alberta. Through the department of IIR, the government of Alberta will continue to be a key partner and primary sponsor for the 2010 awards which will take place on November 26, 2010 at the Westin Calgary.

The AEA offer an opportunity to recognize Alberta companies that have excelled in exporting and celebrate Alberta success. The awards showcase Alberta products and services and the important role that exporting plays in the provincial economy. The awards are open to companies in Alberta that have produced goods and services which have significant Canadian content; earned foreign revenue; and have been exporting for two or more years. There are three ways to get involved:
-Companies may nominate someone who deserves to be recognized
-Nominate yourself
-A student can apply or be nominated

The award categories will be: New exporter, sustainability, international business studies (student award), and sector awards in advancing technologies, manufactured products, primary products and resources, consumer products, new media and entertainment, and professional services.
