POSITION
This position requires solid technical abilities and strong leadership skills in support of demanding, energy sector projects. A genuine interest in understanding our Clients’ business and related processes will help you to provide quality solutions quickly and efficiently.
You are self motivated and have a strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, equipment requirements and specifications. You are comfortable communicating with Clients, your peers, technical sales representatives and contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with Mechanical Team Lead and the Tridyne Project Managers, you will be required to:
- Provide preliminary project design basis, budgeting and scheduling.
- Prepare design basis memorandum.
- Prepare AFE estimating.
- Coordinate work to various disciplines within and outside the company.
- Provide detailed calculations, specification of equipment, as well as review and check engineering drawings.
- Ensure engineering quality control and quality assurance of production work.
- Prepare and review contact documents for equipment and construction work packages.
- Field construction management and commissioning.
- Work with the project team to design and configure facility layouts based on good process requirements with respect to applicable codes, standards and good industry practice.
- Maintain client liaison for assigned projects.
- Assist in schedule preparation and resource forecasting for project activities.
- Manage projects using good practice.
- Develop Design Brief Memorandum and establish project design parameters and assumptions.
- Provide manpower estimates for internal resources on projects.
- Coordinate third party sub consultants.
- Review and approve purchases for projects.
- Manage and control budget and resources on projects.
- Provide reporting information to both clients and management.
- Review billings and invoices as required.
- Assist with the production of Contract Documents.
- Work with other disciplines to ensure project close-out is complete and documents are filed and stored correctly.
- Assist in the development of company policies and production standards.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior personnel (mentoring) to enhance their own knowledge and skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
GENERAL
- Minimum 10 to 15 years work experience in the implementation, planning and designing of engineering projects in the energy sector.
- Hands on work style.
- Excellent communicator, both verbally and written.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to perform on multiple assignments concurrently.
- Ability to function in a high-demand and fast paced environment.
- Strong time management skills and ability to maintain schedules.
- Ability to travel out of town for short periods of time on assignments.
- Ability to check and mentor junior personnel.
- Ability to motivate team members and resolve interpersonal issues.
- Complies with standards and procedures of Tridyne Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
TECHNICAL
- Minimum of a post secondary degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Registered with APEGGA with ability to be registered in other jurisdictions.
- In depth knowledge of AutoCAD (both 2D and 3D) and CADWorx an asset.
- Working knowledge of industry related analysis and design software.
- Familiarity with codes and standards.
- Complete knowledge of discipline specific equipment and materials.
- Complete understanding of processes common in the oil and gas industry.
- In depth knowledge of other disciplines and the interface requirements.
- Proficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
