POSITION
This position requires solid technical abilities and strong leadership skills in support of demanding, energy sector projects. A genuine interest in understanding our Clients’ business and related processes will help you to provide quality solutions quickly and efficiently.
You are self motivated and have a strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, equipment requirements and specifications. You are comfortable communicating with Clients, your peers, technical sales representatives and contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with project managers and design/drafters, your responsibilities include:
- Team management ensuring project needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Developing and maintaining the mechanical design/drafting manpower forecasts by ongoing communication with the engineering teams.
- Managing mechanical design/drafting manpower requirements including providing staffing requirements to Human resources, interviewing, training and terminations.
- Design of facility layouts based on project requirements with respect to applicable codes and standards.
- Production of Contract Documents including working drawings and specifications.
- Management of multi-person production teams (depending on Client project requirements).
- Provide quality assurance and project checking.
- Collaborating with the design/drafting quality SME in development of company standards and specifications.
- Organizing and coordinating team development through training and ongoing regular workshops to address common team production issues.
- Providing technical guidance and leadership to junior personnel (mentoring) to enhance their own knowledge and skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
GENERAL
- Minimum 10 to 15 years experience in the mechanical design/drafting of energy industry projects.
- Hands on work style.
- Excellent communicator, both verbally and written.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to perform on multiple assignments concurrently.
- Ability to function in a high-demand and fast paced environment.
- Strong time management skills and ability to maintain schedules.
- Ability to travel out of town for short periods of time on assignments.
- Ability to motivate team members and resolve interpersonal issues.
- Complies with standards and procedures of Tridyne Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
TECHNICAL
- Minimum of a two-year diploma in Engineering Design/Drafting Technology OR a certificate in Process Piping Drafting from a recognized institution.
- In depth knowledge of AutoCAD and CadWorx, both 2D and 3D, an asset.
- Working knowledge of industry related analysis and design software.
- Familiarity with codes and standards.
- Complete knowledge of discipline specific equipment and materials.
- Complete understanding of processes common in the oil and gas industry.
- In depth knowledge of other disciplines and the interface requirements.
- Proficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
